Join us for a dynamic conversation between David Nichtern and special guest, Duncan Trussell – comedian, podcaster, and creator of Netflix’s animated hit series, “Midnight Gospel”!
In an ongoing series based on the principles in David’s book, Creativity, Spirituality & Making a Buck, David and Duncan will explore the notion in Chapter 26 – Creativity – Forget Everything You Read in this Book, talking about creativity as wild card and as career, with a background of spiritual practice and right livelihood.
This workshop will include brief meditation instruction and practice, playful dialog between David and Duncan, and Q&A with the guests.
All levels welcome.
This evening is included for all students participating in Samarasa’s Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training with David Nichtern.

About David Nichtern
David is a senior teacher in the lineage of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. This tradition combines a contemporary, secular approach to meditation with the ancient practices and philosophies of Tibetan Buddhism. He has been the Director of Karme Choling Meditation Center in Vermont (USA), Director of Buddhist Studies and Practice at OM Yoga Center (NYC), and Director of the Dharmadhatu Meditation Center in Los Angeles. He teaches meditation workshops and teacher training programs around the world and online, and he also mentors individual students in person and via Skype. David is known for his ability to present the richness and depth of the Buddhist tradition with a light touch, making it accessible and relevant. He created a weekly live broadcast on YouTube and has online workshops available through creativeLIVE.com. His book “Awakening From The Daydream – Reimagining The Buddha’s Wheel of Life” was released by Wisdom Publications in October 2016. David’s latest book, “Creativity, Spirituality & Making a Buck” was released by Wisdom Publications in October 2019. David is also an Emmy winning, Grammy nominated composer, guitarist and producer. He is the composer of the classic song “Midnight at the Oasis” and has worked with a diverse range of artists including Christopher Guest, Maria Muldaur, Paul Simon, Lana Del Rey, Stevie Wonder, Krishna Das, Jerry Garcia and many others.
About Duncan Trussell
Duncan Trussell is a comedian and podcaster. His podcast, “The Duncan Trussell Family Hour”, has been downloaded over 25 million times and has a global following.
Duncan co-created the hit Netflix series “Midnight Gospel” which has been described (among other things) as “The Simpsons on acid.”
He co-hosted Syfy’s “Joe Rogan Questions Everything” and appeared on TBS’s “The Pete Holmes Show”, “Drunk History”, “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, “Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time”, and wrote and acted in the MTV series “Story Pig”. He also voices the regularly occurring character, Ron James, on Cartoon Network’s “Adventure Time.”
