David will be joined by long-time friend, Sean Callery for this very special evening workshop. 

 

Sean has composed the music for such iconic TV shows as Homeland and 24. He  has received 17 Emmy nominations and 4 wins, making him one of the most celebrated TV composers of all time.

 

This evening’s program will include meditation instruction and practice, a presentation by Sean of his scoring prowess, playful dialog with David and Sean, and open Q&A with participants. 

There will also be some great personal stories of them working together in the past.

All levels welcome. 

This evening is included for all students participating in Samarasa’s Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training with David Nichtern.

About David Nichtern

David is a senior teacher in the lineage of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. This tradition combines a contemporary, secular approach to meditation with the ancient practices and philosophies of Tibetan Buddhism. He has been the Director of Karme Choling Meditation Center in Vermont (USA), Director of Buddhist Studies and Practice at OM Yoga Center (NYC), and Director of the Dharmadhatu Meditation Center in Los Angeles. He teaches meditation workshops and teacher training programs around the world and online, and he also mentors individual students in person and via Skype. David is known for his ability to present the richness and depth of the Buddhist tradition with a light touch, making it accessible and relevant. He created a weekly live broadcast on YouTube and has online workshops available through creativeLIVE.com. His book “Awakening From The Daydream – Reimagining The Buddha’s Wheel of Life” was released by Wisdom Publications in October 2016. David’s latest book, “Creativity, Spirituality & Making a Buck” was released by Wisdom Publications in October 2019. David is also an Emmy winning, Grammy nominated composer, guitarist and producer. He is the composer of the classic song “Midnight at the Oasis” and has worked with a diverse range of artists including Christopher Guest, Maria Muldaur, Paul Simon, Lana Del Rey, Stevie Wonder, Krishna Das, Jerry Garcia and many others.

About Sean Callery

Emmy-winning composer, Sean Callery has received 17 Emmy nominations and 4 wins, making him one of the most nominated composers of all time.

Callery just completed scoring the 8th season of long-running hit Showtime Drama, Homeland, (starring Claire Danes).  He also composed the score for the Marvel ™ /Netflix series, Jessica Jones (starring Krysten Ritter).  In 2014, Mr. Callery was honored to receive ASCAP’s “Composer Of The Year” award.

Recent accomplishments include receiving his forth Emmy for “Outstanding Main Title Theme Music” for Jessica Jones, which was the first award ever given to a Marvel ™  series.  He composed the score for all 10 seasons of Fox’s hit series, 24, (starring Kiefer Sutherland), as well as the popular procedurals, Bones and CBS’s Elementary. Additional notable compositions include ABC’s Designated Survivor, and the CBS paranormal series, Medium.  His path of meditation and musicianship were joined when he scored the documentary, Crazy Wisdom: The Life and Times of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

Currently, he composes for CBS’s hit series, Bull, and in September his music will be heard in the upcoming A.I. thriller, Next, which will premiere on Fox. Since joining the Samarasa community, Sean Callery holds a certification in Mindfulness Meditation Instruction.
